North Bank Farmers Association promotes and champions in sustainable food production system in the Gambians agricultural value chain.
Our organisation is set on working closely with the Gambian Government and NGO's in supporting the cause of all farmers and producers in the whole value chain for sustainable development farming in the Gambia.

Aims
· Improve livelihoods of farmers in the North Bank Region through profitable, sustainable agriculture.
· Strengthen farmer unity and cooperation by building a strong, well-governed association across communities.
· Increase food security by boosting production of rice, vegetables, livestock, poultry, fish, and other key products.
· Expand market access so members can sell produce at fair prices locally and internationally.
· Promote modern, climate-smart farming and sustainable natural resource management to improve yields while protecting the environment.
· Support women and youth empowerment through skills, opportunities, leadership roles, and decent employment in agriculture and agribusiness.
· Promote tree plantation and environmental conservation to improve soil health, biodiversity, and climate resilience.

Objectives
1. Institutional Strengthening
· Establish strong governance, leadership structures, policies, and accountability systems.
2. Membership Development
· Register and organize farmers across villages, grow membership, and protect members’ interests.
3. Capacity Building and Training
· Provide training on modern farming methods, agribusiness, irrigation, post-harvest handling, and record-keeping.
4. Inputs Supply and Distribution
· Facilitate access to quality seeds, fertilizers (organic and chemical), pesticides/weedkillers, and farming tools at affordable prices.
5. Mechanization Services
· Provide tractors, power tillers, harvesters, and rice milling services to reduce labour and increase productivity.
6. Post-Harvest and Storage Development
· Support cold storage, warehouses, drying floors, and improved storage systems to reduce losses.
7. Transport and Logistics Support
· Operate transport services (including refrigerated trucks) for produce, farm inputs, and members’ goods.
8. Marketing and Value Addition
· Develop markets and outlets (shops/market centres), improve packaging, grading, and processing for higher income.
9. Financial Inclusion
· Support savings schemes, micro-loans, revolving funds, and partnerships with banks and donors to finance farming activities.
10. Partnership and Advocacy
· Build partnerships with government, NGOs, projects, and private companies; advocate for farmer-friendly policies.
11. Climate-Smart Agriculture and Environment
· Promote composting/organic manure, water management, tree planting, and sustainable land use.
12. Community Development and Social Support
· Support community initiatives, promote peace and unity, and assist vulnerable farmers when possible.

Preamble
We, the farmers of the North Bank Region of The Gambia, recognising the need for unity and collaboration in overcoming challenges faced by our farming communities—particularly women and youth—do hereby establish this Constitution for the North Bank Farmers Association (NBFA).
We aim to work closely with the Gambian Government, NGOs, and development partners to support all farmers and producers throughout the agricultural value chain. Our commitment is to promote sustainable farming development, ensure food security, and foster economic independence for smallholder and local women farmers.
Article I: Name
The name of this organisation shall be the North Bank Farmers Association (NBFA), hereinafter referred to as “the Association.”
Article II: Mission Statement
The mission of NBFA is to enhance the livelihoods of farmers and producers in The Gambia by fostering sustainable agricultural practices, empowering women and youth, and facilitating access to resources and markets.
Article III: Aims and Objectives
The aims and objectives of the Association shall be:

In the event of dissolution, any remaining assets—after liabilities are settled—shall be transferred to a charitable organisation with similar objectives, as determined by the Executive Committee.

This Constitution shall be adopted upon approval by a majority vote of the founding members present at the inaugural meeting of the North Bank Farmers Association.

Subject: Community Appeal to Join NBFA and Support Farmers with Farming Equipment, Borehole Drilling Machines for Water Supplies & Livelihood Development
Dear Brothers and Sisters of the North Bank Region and all Gambians beyond,
Warm greetings to you all. The North Bank Farmers Association (NBFA) respectfully writes to you with a strong and united mission: to improve agriculture, food security, and family livelihoods in the North Bank Region (NBR) and across The Gambia through collective action, partnership, and community support.
NBFA is a farmers-led association dedicated to supporting our communities through improved farming systems, women and youth empowerment, access to markets, training, and most importantly access to modern farming equipment and reliable water systems.
Today, we humbly appeal to all NBR sons and daughters at home and abroad, and all supporters beyond NBR, to stand with NBFA in building a stronger, productive, and self-reliant region.
1. JOIN NBFA (MEMBERSHIP INVITATION)
We invite you to join NBFA and become part of this important development initiative by registering as one of the following:

Your membership will strengthen NBFA’s capacity to serve more villages, mobilize resources, and expand community services.
2. SUPPORT FARMING EQUIPMENT & MECHANIZATION
Our farmers continue to face major challenges due to limited mechanization, high labour demands, and lack of processing capacity. NBFA is mobilizing support to acquire and expand access to:
· Tractors
· Power Tillers
· Combine Rice Harvester Machines
· Rice Milling and Processing Machines
· Groundnut, Maize and Grain Processing Machines
· Cold chain and storage support (where possible)
These machines will reduce hardship, increase production, improve quality, and create job opportunities, especially for our youth.
3. SUPPORT BOREHOLE DRILLING & WATER DEVELOPMENT
Water is life. NBFA is seeking support to acquire borehole drilling machines and develop water facilities that can support:
· Rice fields and upland farms
· Gardens and horticulture
· Fish farming (aquaculture)
· Poultry and animal husbandry
· Tree plantation and agroforestry projects
Reliable water will transform farming from seasonal to sustainable production.
4. PRIORITY SECTORS WE ARE BUILDING TOGETHER
NBFA is committed to strengthening community livelihoods through the following priority areas:
· Crop farming and horticulture (gardening)
· Rice production and processing
· Fish farming
· Poultry production
· Animal husbandry (cattle, sheep and goats)
· Tree plantation and environmental protection
5. HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT (EVERY SUPPORT COUNTS)
You can support NBFA through any of the following contributions:
· Donation of equipment (new or used in good condition)
· Financial support towards purchasing machines
· Fuel and operational support
· Spare parts and maintenance support
· Technical support, training and expertise
